To kick-off this year’s New York Fashion Week, beauty and fashion bloggers flocked to the fourth Lucky Fabb Conference. This year’s theme focused on bloggers making it on their own terms. Various speakers and workshops helped inspire a group of up-and-coming influencers while sharing insights on how to drive business and ultimately elevate their brands. Here are FMM’s top 10 takeaways from the conference:
Projective Space and Fashion Digital Daily launched the Future of Fashion in New York, an ongoing series showcasing live demos of emerging fashion startups in beta or recently launched. Through live demos, participating companies presented their platforms to an audience of fashion professionals and a panel of judges who provided valuable feedback. Below are the top five emerging fashion startups on FMM’s radar.
In keeping with being fashionably FMM, the month of February is blazing by quickly. I headed to New York Fashion Week to attend the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference and Fashion 2.0 Awards (the Golden Globes of Digital Fashion Marketing) for the first time since I started FMM (yes, we hung up trade shows in exchange for fashion week). With my camera in tow, I started snapping the best the events had to offer. Here’s an inside look at the style of those that attended events for the A/W 2012. I event took a photos with Design Within Reach (thanks for the blog love guys) myself!
The theme of the DKNY Fall/Winter 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week was “Poetic Rebellion.” Inspired by the “beat generation,” and perfect for the city girl in all of us, Donna Karan’s diffusion line was filled with chic treats, sophisticated palettes and an uncompromising dedication to detail and luxury.
Over 450 industry notables from both the fashion and tech sector, including social media powerhouses from DKNY (the night’s big winner), Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs and Bergdorf Goodman, filled NYC’s SVA Theatre last night for the 3rd Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards presented by Style Coalition. The event was also watched by thousands via livestream.
With an impressive line up of speakers, it already promises to be a great opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing. StyleCaster will contextualize seminar data with key findings from the State of Style report at the beginning of each session. The report was commissioned in partnership with Empirica Research Group which used extensive crowd-sourcing methods in order to unveil unprecedented projections for design, branding and purchasing trends among style consumers. The full State of Style report will be available for purchase at the event. The summit will be streaming via Watchitoo at State of Style Summit page for remote attendees.
On December 7th, FashInvest held its second annual Capital Conference at the FIT designed to create opportunities for cutting-edge fashion startups and traditional fashion brands trying to raise money and take their companies to the next level.
In 2012, we’ve decided our editorial motto includes the words “sustainable, smart, sound and striking” when it comes to our coverage. No sooner do we define words important to our editorial content than the one of our favorite newsletters, goop, launches two strikingly beautiful, well-designed iPhone and iPad apps.
