Viddy Poised to Become The Instagram of Mobile Video
Fashionistas, get ready for your new favorite app. Viddy is a mobile social video application that enables users to shoot, beautify and share 15-second video clips in a format similar to Instagram. Viddy enables users to quickly and easily add titles, tags and geo-location with Foursquare and share via the Viddy network, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, email, SMS or to a personal website with the new embed codes.
“Viddyographers” can capture, beautify and share 15-second video clips with the world using one-click actions to apply unique audio tracks, transitions and innovative visual effects.
At Inside FMM, we love sharing photos of the beautiful clothing, accessories and home decor that we find, and sharing our discoveries as video adds a new dimension that is… well, exciting, frankly. Now you we can share the way a skirt moves when a person walks, the sound that earrings make when we turn our head, the way an outfit seems to change as light changes.
The best part about Viddy? You don’t have to be a professional videographer to use it. The app also offers Adobe and Final Cut style visual effects pre-bundled into one-click production packages, similar to an Instagram filter. Special effects include graphics, color correction and audio tracks. Production Pack options include; Solarize, Red, Exposed, Retro, Glam, Black & White, Crystal, Hued, Vintage, Junkd and 3D. Viddy also offers branded production packs including: Snoop Dogg, Incubus, the Muppets and T-Pain.
Celebrities and influencers are already using Viddy, including Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg, Incubus and iJustine. Viddy also features premium branded content tie-ins, enabling Viddy fans to download custom video effects and sounds from their favorite artists and movies.
“We continue to be excited by the growth and engagement of the Viddy community, and by the visually entertaining quality of videos created and shared around the world every day,” said Viddy CEO and co-founder Brett O’Brien. “Given the incredible growth numbers that we have seen, we’re looking forward to making Viddy available on more platforms and to more users globally.”
Viddy is about to get bigger. The company just raised $6 million dollars in Series A financing from Battery Ventures, Greycroft Ventures and Qualcomm. The additional funding will enable Viddy to accelerate international expansion and bring their App to new devices and platforms, including iPad and Android phones and tablets. Existing investors include Battery Ventures, Greycroft Ventures, Qualcomm, Bessemer Ventures, and Angel Investors Sky Dayton (founder of Earthlink, Boingo and Business.com), Jarl Mohn (founder of E! Entertainment Television and founding president of Liberty Digital) and Christina Brodbeck (the first employee at YouTube).
