Luxury Retailer Bergdorf Goodman Launches Shoes About Town Campaign

Any fashionable digitalista, style blogger or any shopping obsessed woman knows that as women (and a few men) we love footwear. Our shoes are as important as our statement handbags. And of lovers of what goes on our petite toes, we know that aside form the lovely Sea of Shoes, there’s simply not enough shoe inspiration on the web. Well, the genius social inclined lover of shoes at Bergdorf Goodman and her team (we know who you are all are) saw fit to to solve our problem. Partnering with Instagram and updating their addictive Today’s Shoe mobile app, Bergdorf Goodman has created Shoes About Town, a interactive map that showcases – IN PHOTOS – the secret lives of women’s footwear on the island of Manhattan.

Bergdorf Goodman Writes:

We’ve taken our obsessions to the streets…Inspired by the John Clang photography in our Fall Shoe Book, we’ve started capturing these obsessions in their urban landscape. You may have noticed a snapshot or two lingering around Fashion City — a Louboutin Daffodile glittering in the Farmers Market, Giuseppe Zanotti twinkling at Lincoln Center; a Charlotte Olympia kitty prowling through the Central Park Zoo… Each pair has a place in the story of New York, and now we want you to share your own shoe obsessions with us.We can’t wait to see where your shoe obsessions take you.

How It Works

Bergdorf’s is inviting shoe loving fashionistas to join them in the charting of shoe obsessions via Instagram.

  1. Using the Instagram iPhone app, photograph your shoe in its natural territory.
  2. Hash-tag it with #BGShoes and enable Instagram’s geotag so your shoes have a place in or surrounding Manhattan.
  3. Those photographed will appear on Shoes About Town interactive map of shoe fanaticism and may even find a place on the walls of the Bergdorf Goodman store.
