Gilt Groupe’s Latest Moves Suggest Its Rapid Expansion
Gilt Groupe has been appointing a slew of new people to its company — suggesting that the company, which specializes in online flash sales, is making fast and massive changes in preparation for its expansion — nationally, internationally, and across various media channels.
Recent appointees include Esquire.com style editor Josh Peskowitz, and Rogan and Loomstate COO Chris Ventry. Peskowitz will work with Gilt on its new men’s retail site as Style Director, and Ventry will serve as Category Director and Head of Business Operations.
Previously this month, Gilt announced Peter Glusker, who had worked with Gilt before in New York, would become CEO of Gilt Groupe Japan and Gilt City Japan. Former Dell marketer, David Zucker, was also promoted to Chief Marketing Officer.
In addition to its new faces in management, Gilt has also partnered with Dwell,a modern home, design & architecture magazine, to sell discounted home plans on the Gilt website.
Gilt made its name in web sales, selling luxury goods at discounted prices to enthusiastic online shoppers. Now, it seems that the sample sale giant is capitalizing on its name to expand abroad and beyond clothing and accessories.
